The largest country on the Iberian Peninsula, Spain is a destination that is celebrated for its spicy culture, incredible arts and world-renowned culinary scene - each element marked by a unique Mediterranean flair. Immediately it feels MUCH hotter, looks more colourful and you can tell that North Africa is just across the horizon.

With less time…we really don’t know which place we’ll cull since they are fantastic. However, we started toying around with the idea of a Spain and Portugal trip when we saw that flights to Spain are so much cheaper than to Lisbon. Is this to much to do.

From there we used the Spanish bus company, ALSA, to get us to Faro in Portugal. But after seeing photos of this beautiful town, I knew I had to visit.

With more time, we would probably spend an extra day or two in Madrid in order to take a trip to Toledo. Take the train or bus to Seville. Its world-renowned jaw-dropping cliffs should be reason enough to visit, but if you need more, Lagos has beautiful beaches, fresh seafood, and plenty of things to do to keep you busy. Evora is a UNESCO Heritage Site and one of Portugal's most beautiful medieval towns. In the end we found it the cheapest to fly from Hong Kong to Madrid, and return from Lisbon on Qatar Airways. And man, how happy are we with that! It’s also a UNESCO Heritage Site, and its picturesque old town is not to be missed either. I do not recommend keeping the car while in Lisbon.
