In this position, you will work with clients in many different counties and different states, and will often need to determine what is available locally and develop relationships as you go.

More than one-third of them were not getting the health care they were eligible for, so we provided the free, one-on-one, step-by-step help that took them from no coverage to enrollment (in Medicaid or Medicare or a policy from the Marketplace, in many cases with a substantial subsidy), or substantially improved their coverage, or worked to ensure they saw a doctor for the first time in years. After Innocence provides re-entry assistance and advocacy for America's wrongfully convicted. We follow up to make sure the work gets done. After years – sometimes decades – in prison for crimes they did not commit, most exonerees never receive meaningful compensation or any consistent, coordinated post-release assistance. Here are a a couple of recent examples: Wrongful Conviction Tax Relief Act: Congress provided exonerees with a one-time opportunity for a refund of any taxes they had previously paid on money received as compensation for their wrongful incarceration, but exonerees were not notified, nor provided with any help applying before the deadline. We take on special projects for the exoneree population.

You will be doing nearly all of this work by phone or video - this is how we efficiently serve a very large number exonerees spread across the country.
