Unfortunately I believe that this has sucked alot of the soul out of the land. As for spelling and grammar l didn't think it was a spelling bee l thougt it was a comment board for Mudgee. The boredom of this place is mind numbing. It's a shame that benlauren and mud didn't meet while you were both living here, you could have got together and whinged about lots of stuff.

There is a modern clubhouse that features a fantastic restaurant offering indoor & alfresco areas, all with uninterrupted views of the magnificent golf course. Wouldn't waste my time living in Mudgee unless I know people. I didn't realise there was a problem in being proud of the place you live? Can't see a doctor straight away and have to go to Orange or Dubbo or even further to get major medical work done. You can do a self-driving cellar door tour of your own or join an organised group. There are some very lovely and nice people here but they make up a very small percentage maybe 20%. There are some very old and interesting buildings to see in the town as well as the Mudgee Railway Station. l now l can grow old here and feel very safe and happy in my town. As a sydney sider who has a farm in hargraves I rarely get into town, however when I do (and people dont know me from a bar of soap) I find people very friendly, in fact its the visitors who dont say gday , thats how we know they are tourists. Mudgee - Place for fine wine and gourmet food. I think someone mentioned two bob snobs. A few hours on the freeway to the coast and the best mountains in the country. Blows Mudgee out of the water. line the undulating fairways and are a natural sanctuary to a myriad of native Australian birds. Good shopping, restaurants and parks. That gets it said, what about the crap miners leave behind? There is no highway near the town, no railway and no real bus lines. Most people highly uneducated and small minded/ignorant. French in spirit, Australian in body. Yes there is a very unfortunate history with the Wiradjuri tribe around the region when martial law was declared. The old gold-mining town of Gulgong is a wonderful place to visit and it still has its 19th-century charm, with the main street lined by heritage buildings with original verandahs and iron-lace balconies.

Now that is charming.

Wear It Outt is situated in the historical town of Gulgong NSW. Surrounded by gently undulating hills it is noted primarily for more than 40 superb vineyards and outstanding providores, cafes and restaurants which accompany the vineyards and cellar doors. They give the same reasons myself and Mud give. We have lived here for 4years.

There is no highway near the town, no railway and no real bus lines. All rights reserved.

As I said before, speaking to a local hire company who rents out trucks to people who are moving, a lot of people move here and a lot of people leave as well. mudgee surrounding towns

Come to Mudgee friendly one day, bitchy the next. Got to agree with other post, boring night life unless special occasion. Markets every weekend, and events in the vineyards and some in town too. Mudgee is a very friendly town to tourists, WHY, because they love taking your money, friendly to your face but not behind your back. Its very uninspiring and at times depressing. It's hot, it's dry and it's not a scenic place.

How lucky were we to find Mudgee. Actually as with most events it is reasonably priced, $25 a head. With its dramatic setting of scenic canyons, towering cliffs, wild rivers and scenic forests, Wollemi National Park is the perfect place to escape from city life with beautiful scenic walks, swimming and canoeing. I'm not a 'local', moved here 3yrs ago, and have always found people to be nice and friendly. Find what to do today, this weekend, or in November. I'll mention also, the customer service in some shops is also a disgrace, I've said hello a few times when I've gone to purchase something only to have them just look and have say hello like it was a massive effort. Located in the old Times Bakery and Produce Store, in the heart of historic Gulgong, the museum’s collection includes farming and mining equipment, domestic tools, horse drawn vehicles, early photographs, Clubhouse & restaurant, Mudgee Golf Club. I moved to Dubbo which has it's problems but far more options. For the size of the town we have everthing you could want in a 5min drive.

I'm all for Free Speech, that's why I thought I would voice my opinion that I feel your comment that ALL "locals" were rude and small minded was not a fair representation of the area.
