At the outset, Ann (Lucy Walters) is conspicuously alone, living in a well-camouflaged campsite in an upstate New York forest. While the setting is post zombie-apocalypse(ish) this is certainly no horror or scifi film. Usually I don't reference other's reviews, but one said "this is what the walking dead wants to be," another said "unpredictable", only one other review said what this film is: bad.
Bravo ! Here Alone is a 2017 sci-fi horror film about a woman who struggles to survive in the aftermath of a deadly epidemic that forces her into the wilderness. To me, the acting was superb from all on this film, interesting story, I was not regretful seeing it; I wish I have bought it, so I can see it again in a year, or play it for friends. are reduced to the absolute necessary (small budget) but are sufficient for telling the story. Here Alone is a 2016 sci-fi, horror, drama film directed by Rob Blackhurst. The narrative of a horror film does not have to have Bullitt's Mustang at full throttle every second or blood and gore fogging up the movie or TV screen. However things go wrong with tragic consequences. I would definitely watch it again, or rent similar-themed movies such as this. I liked that there was character development, and you could understand their motivations for what each character did--rare in movies it seems these days. Very, very well done. A young woman struggles to survive on her own in the wake of a mysterious epidemic that has killed much of society, and forced her deep into the unforgiving wilderness. Even drama doesn't really fit. Most of the movie focuses on these boring interactions in an attempt to build character, but it is to no avail. They managed to make me in a few seconds completely stop caring what happened to the characters. Having grown up in these woods, where Jason trained her in wilderness survival basics, the family apparently had enough warning about the crisis to prepare as well as could be managed, with camping supplies, some long-shelf-life food and a gun packed into the car that now sits idle next to her tent. Looking forward for more films from this group, not so much in special effects, but great story telling. I will just say that the entire film was gripping and brilliant. This movie is one of the greatest zombie movies ever made, the movie doesn't contain much violent scenes or blood, because this is not the main goal here, the main goal is about the human souls and how they may survive such world. Horror first sparked his interest after watching the original, ... reviews, and movie releases in everything horror! Though we don’t actually see a zombie until more than an hour in, we do hear them screeching in the distance — and know they’re agitated by the smell of blood, which Ann uses to waylay them while she’s busy raiding a no longer inhabited farmhouse for supplies. But critical support could propel it into niche theatrical release, with specialized home-format sales more of a given. It's still watchable but like the more discerning reviewers have expressed, the ending does suck. It resembles the walking dead-the PC game not series-where you don't always fight, you rarely fight actually, but it's a matter of choices, decisions and taking actions, which is so much harder than just fighting physically. Indeed, Lucy Walters as Ann played very well. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness. One thing I didn't enjoyed was the ending scenes. I wish very much I had not wasted my time with it now because it went up its own behind trying to be meaningful and just succeeded in being completely ridiculous. But there are no prizes for guessing she’s now the family’s sole survivor. This movie was really good until the last ten minutes or so. This is a merit for the film but the movie story was not fascinating, a lot of crap dialogues which made it slightly boring. The performers are all credible as ordinary, fallible folk who’ve managed to survive a plague (so far) through sheer luck as much as anything; no one here is larger-than-life. (Hint: Mixing volatile teenage emotions with rampaging-zombie risk can be hazardous to everyone’s health.). This movie was pretty engrossing until the very end when it suddenly descended into psycho stupid. This movie might not be everyone, but it is one of the most realistic portrayals of the collapse of society that I've seen in any movie. You can see that she is not a natural survivalist, but she is forced to adapt and learn how to survive. Nonetheless, Ann must hazard occasional runs to nearby houses, looking for canned goods. Some the most creative work is done with low budgets, and breaking formula is often good. Directed by Rod Blackhurst. After one such trek she hears people — living people — and cautiously approaches teenage Olivia (Gina Piersanti), found hobbling along a country road supporting head-wounded stepfather Chris (Adam David Thompson). When Chris is recovered, he invites Ann to move with Olivia and he to the North. I am a sucker for post-apocalyptic movies. Kept on watching til the end, and still had me thinking of a good ending. From the director: "Here Alone will appeal to fans of well-crafted psychological dramatic thrillers and elevated genre films."
